Visit to Hackney Walk

Do we have our own Bicester Village in London?  Well, not quite but Hackney Walk is a lot easier to get to being just seven minutes walk from Hackney Central Station.   Burberry's is probably the highest profile of the dozen or so high end outlet stores and it is clearly a magnet for tourists wanting to buy into the name.  I met some friends there and we were fairly aghast at the eye-watering prices even with discount.  For example,  admittedly beautiful gossamer-fine cashmere scarves reduced from £500 to £250 with the name "Burberry" embroidered boldly across the bottom.  Hmmmm.  We emerged with credit cards untouched. Not so in the delightful surprise that was Aquascutum.  "Expensive Mackintoshes!"  I hear you say and you would be right, but there is so much more.  Exquisitely made coats, jackets, skirts, dresses, trousers, all in beautiful fabrics with price reductions too tempting to resist.  If you are after some timeless classic chic, it would be hard to beat.  After that, Joseph, Matches Fashion and Pringle were an anti-climax but it might be different another time.....
